“He’s not dead today because of what he did in the past, he’s dead today because he miscalculated what President Trump would do regarding future attacks,”
Rep. Lindsey Graham. (R – SC)
By Chad Carroway
What a bedazzling display of fireworks to wrap up 2019! Even though it may have been plastered on the massive screens that stand above Times Square, that was not a reference to the ball-drop festivities hosted by Seacrest and his entourage. Rather, this concerns D.C. and the redundant shrapnel of political weaponry lobbed to and fro over the House/Senate barrier concerning procedural control of the impeachment process from this point forward.
We could all agree that the impeachment issue is one that is important, but many might say that they have heard enough, agreed. But what about Australia? What about the fuel shortages, evacuations, the navy having to transport many that are fleeing to safer regions? Sadly, we have also seen thousands and homes and families displaced due to the raging wildfires that have raced across so many acres of land and the monster has yet to stop.
And of course, we witnesses the embassy in Baghdad that was attacked by Iran-backed protesters and the main topic of discussion was the grand finale…the missile strikes executed by the US military against several key Iranian butchers.
There are so many topics about which a news agency can report, considering the list of these events that I have just shared. Apparently, just based on reporting, the main focus seems to the POTUS. Sadly, the majority, if not most of the narrative was chocked full your basic talking points, passed on and warmed over from one MSM outlet to the next as usual. Just as I was grabbing a bite treat this afternoon, the dedicated #sotucnn interview with Elizabeth Warren claimed that the strikes were an assassination and “possibly” an attempt to divert attention away from the impeachment focus on Capitol Hill. That brings brings me to a great opening point concerning the topics of discussion this past weekend.
Authority to execute
There has been an ongoing attack on the power of the Executive Branch (shocker), one sacred to the integrity of the balance of powers in US Government and all past presidents up to this point anyway.1 Trump, however, did notify key members senate members of his intentions prior to the clandestine and time-sensitive operation.2
This is my opinion in of course, but [I am willing to suggest that several of these “key members” of the Senate, were [likely] involved in the actual planning phase of the strike]. That can not be proven as of yet, but many during recent interviews and commentaries have alluded to their personal involvement in the process and suggest that upcoming revelations of sensitive details will be forthcoming.
Their is a such a sense of collective confidence in these statements that is threaded through the tapestry of the dialogue, that it difficult for anyone with “common sense” not understand that the proper channels were notified. Clearly, the radical Left wants to portray, this strategic assault as one that was carried out in recklessness, arrogance or through some wild mixture of both. The powers granted the Commander-In-Chief under the the Patriot Act, grant a sitting us president full authority to execute a military strike on any terrorist within the borders of North America. As for the Middle East, particularly the Persian Gulf, the POTUS has full military authority to strike enemy combatants just the same.
When your making a governmental, legislative move, you consult politicians, lawmakers and sadly (occupational hazard) there will be the occasional communist-victicrats included. When you need to rid the world of blood-thirsty ideology-driven butchers, you sit down with the ones who can handle the job. Our POTUS consulted with his military, he didn’t muscle anyone around. He wisely factored in sound, collective counsel, with the need to deter future Iranian attack plans and ultimately, on the foundation of the solid US-BASED intelligence, (not often found in large supply on Capitol Hill) he made the final decision to go with the strike.
The Architect of Evil
Soleimani “was” a decades-long architect of operations for Iranian Republican Guard QUDS Forces (IRGQF), responsible for 17 percent of U.S. personnel deaths in Iraq from 2003 to 2011, which is about 603 deaths (DOD). The Tyrannical rhetoric of the religious leader (Ali Khamenei) of Iran clearly indicates his purpose in the terrorist regime.
“Years of sincere, brave efforts fighting against the devils & villainous in the world and years of wishing for martyrdom on the path of God finally took the dear Commander of Islam, Soleimani, to this lofty status. His blood was shed by the most barbaric of men,”
Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
US—Middle East Relationships:Post-Strike
Just as recently as today, the Iraqi Parliament has began discussions toward drafting resolutions that will expel the US occupation forces from the Persian Gulf region. Washington has a different approach to dealing with Iran now and that will certainly affect past relations.3 That is certainly been greeted with mixed responses from both sides of the aisle. However, analysts say that it is a good step towards an over-arching campaign, complex as it may be, to cutting off major routes of operation.4 No matter the ginned up theatrics created in Tehran, nor the proliferation of the regime’s propaganda by the state-ran media, no one is truly taken aback by this attack on Iran’s top mastermind of terror.5 Even so, the Iranians are not expected to sit on their hands and do nothing, especially in the theatre of cyberwarfare6, as many experts worldwide have predicted.
Soleimani was not only a top General commanding the elite IRGQF under Khamenei’s guidance. He was a major influence over the entire basic military that led the Shia-based operations as well. It was through these very networks that an American defense contractor was killed on December 27, 2019. In fact, the strikes killing Soleimani were in direct response to that bloody act of terrorism and needless loss of life.
Contrary to accusations of the POTUS being a provoker of war, Trump has shown great restraint in the past even while Soleimani has been the author of attacks such as these. Recent attacks include the September 14, 2019 Aramco oil attacks and the destroying of an US Drone worth over $200 Billion.
Once the gathered intelligence was satisfactory and the time was strategic, the call was made to go ahead with the strikes made by US jets. There were other targets included in this package. The strikes near Baghdad International Airport that happened early, also eliminated six other Iraqi militia members and senior officials, including 65-year-old Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the founder of Kata’ib Hezbollah and Muhammad Reza Al-Jabri, the director of public relations at the PMF.
Al-Muhandis was responsible for attacks against the U.S. and French embassies in Kuwait and was sentenced to death in absentia in a court in Kuwait. Al-Muhandis operated “weapons smuggling networks and participated in bombings of Western embassies and attempted assassinations in the region,” according to TRT World, an Istanbul based media.
Meet the New General, [Not] the Same as the Old General
The Supreme Leader of Iran wasted no time replacing Qassem Soleimani after hemet his demise. Brigadier General Esmail Qaani was appointed less than 12 hours, to assume the lead of the Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force. The orders have not changed for the (Quds) “Jerusalem” [that is intended to mean the destruction of Jerusalem BTW] force.
The only changed that has occurred is that of increased fervor. Much to the benefit of Iran, now there is a new Martyr to which they can chant “death to _____” (fill in the blank) as they seek to rid the world of the “infidel” (i.e. everyone else). Here is Qaani’s warm and fuzzy resume’…
Iran-Iraq/Syrian Civil war VETERAN
hardline stance against Israel
The American Enterprise institute profiled the new commander in 2012 as “uncharismatic and a less distinguished military commander than Suleimani, but his operational battlefield experience, network within the IRGC, and long history of acquaintance with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei qualify him for such an appointment.”
“A severe revenge awaits the criminals who have stained their hands with his & the other martyrs’ blood last night,”
Khamenei (Supreme Leader) Twitter.
Europe Wants to “De-escalate”?
As the Supreme Leader awaits a martyr’s revenge, the rest of the world resort to crawling in bed with the very regime that has been a threat to international peace for decades. While that is no surprise, France’s Macron was quoted that he was going to “consult with the players in the region”. He begins by calling Putin to only further reveal disdain for the USA, Trump and any credible plan to rid the world of jihadists. His only concern is “tensions in the region”. While Putin is not expected be on the side of good in this fight, Macron should at least be able to make a call to agree to on this strike as a necessary move. But many have suspicions of back-door working with Moscow concerning U.S. Sanctions and how France can be of assistance.
Leftist Germany is chalking the US strikes up to some knee-jerk reaction to Iranian “provocations”7. With arrogance, the world is reassured by the EU nation that they will “try to de-escalate the situation”. Could some of that experience in tampering down terroristic hostility have helped Germany in the past recent attacks amidst Jihad within its own borders? No… wait? They don’t have borders.
Moscow/Syria send Condolences and Condemnation4
Moscow seemed to be reading the script from CNN this week. The fact that a butcher wears the uniform or holds the title of Iranian General is no justifying reason for acts of terrorism. To offer condolences based on ones title or national interest is wicked.
The official Russian Foreign Ministry Website was quoted concerning Soleimani that he…
“faithfully served and defended the national interests of Iran”
…and offered condolences to the Iranian people after his death.
The Syrian government also condemned the killing.
“certain that this cowardly US aggression… will only strengthen determination to follow in the path of the resistance’s martyred leaders.”8
From the past (Obama) administration there was only squeamish, leftist regression. Now, we have witnessed the futile results of payoffs and failed policy. Not to mention the sporadic drone strikes and economic sanctions without a desire for regime change or offensive moves to war.
As noted by VOA, Russia was also at odds with the Trump administration’s abandonment of the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement.
“The last hopes for resolving the problem of the Iran nuclear program have been bombed to shreds,”
Konstantin Kosachev – Foreign Affairs
While Russia has been working with Germany and France to get around U.S. sanctions, it clear that there is something going on that includes Iran. What is the difference between Moscow and Europe’s largest country? France seems to be on a different level of transparency when it comes to allegiance to Iran. Whether it be out of fear or necessity, either way, their on there receiving end of a bad result. As I shared earlier, there is something more to this, but that is for another day.
Beijing Heard the Message: Loud and Clear
Never mind the little fish in the pond, China is the big player in the game, no matter what sport is on the screen. Of course, Beijing is the biggest backer of the Iranian regime, whether it is widely known or well disguised. The CCP was the largest longstanding purchaser of crude oil (prior to U.S. sanctions) and therefore and ally of Tehran. This by default makes Beijing a de-facto sponsor of terrorism. China still finds ways to get the oil via other countries that ignore U.S. sanctions guidelines.
Artillery (Fighter Jets, Missiles/Systems, Ships, Subs, etc.) is provided by China to Iran. China is the major supplier for Iran’s nuclear program and if hard proof is needed there is recent activity of Russia coordinating with while conducting routine drills with Iran’s Naval fleet in the Gulf of Oman. So, the military message sent to Tehran has rang loudest to mainland China and its true leadership, communist regime has truly received a wake-up call.
On the commercial front, China’s President Xi Jingping is expected to sign phase one of a trade deal this very month with President Trump. Now it has been near 18 months in the making that this trade deal has been processing and with the embers of the missile strike will not yet have cooled before the ink has pressed the paper. For that same reason, The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) must sit silent throughout this entire process and not say a word.
Americans Clear the Streets and the Indigenous Celebrate
“U.S. citizens in Iraq are at high risk for violence and kidnapping. Numerous terrorist and insurgent groups are active in Iraq and regularly attack both Iraqi security forces and civilians. Anti-U.S. sectarian militias may also threaten U.S. citizens and Western companies throughout Iraq. Attacks by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) occur in many areas of the country, including Baghdad,”
U.S. State Dept.
On the third of January, all Americans in and near Iraq were directed to evacuate immediately. Shortly following that announcement, video footage showing praise and dancing following the death of Soleimani flooded
Secretary Mike Pompeo’s Twitter Feed.
“Iraqis—Iraqis—dancing in the street for freedom; thankful that General Soleimani is no more.”
This parade of celebration was the sequel to numerous preceding protests in Iraq that have been happening since October where thousands of indigenous Iraqis filled the war torn streets in Baghdad. Contrary to many other narratives portrayed by the state-ran media of Iran, the protesters decried of a corrupt government and the Iranian regime’s poisonous influence in Iraqi’s sovereign affairs via militias such as the QUDS. Over 450 lives have been taken by security forces using tear gas and live ammunition — mostly protesters.
When the Smoke Cleared, Iran Got the Message
Defense Secretary Mark Esper said on Thursday.
“To Iran and its proxy militias: we will not accept continued attacks against our personnel and forces in the region. Attacks against us will be met with responses in the time, manner, and place of our choosing. We urge the Iranian regime to end their malign activities.”
America has been clear on its limits under the Trump Administration. No mention of a “Red Line” has occurred and after the strike on Iran’s top commander this past Friday, that rhetoric is not necessary to begin with.
“I think the Iranian leadership understands that President Trump will take action. We’ve made this clear for months. When I was the CIA director, we made very clear that these responses would be swift and decisive. We’ve now demonstrated that,”
“Iran Understands Trump Will Take ‘Decisive’ Action After Soleimani Killing”
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
Fox & Friends—Friday 1/3/20
Trump’s Call to Strike
The United States of America is now led by a man who does not wish to prolong an ongoing war, nor is he interested in provoking another. However, defending sacred American lives has nothing to do with either one of those matters. President Trump clarified his reasoning and his direct intentions for executing the strike on Soleimani.
“He was actively plotting in the region to take actions—a big action, as he described it—that would have put dozens if not hundreds of American lives at risk. We know it was imminent. This was an intelligence-based assessment that drove our decision-making process.”
So what is at stake for America and what is the direction the POTUS is leading his country…?
“Many factors are at play, including U.S. domestic political struggles, the presidential elections, the Russian and Chinese stances, the ability of Israel to withstand an all-out war between its staunchest ally and its most lethal enemy, and most importantly, Iranian capabilities and military surprises,”
“I would presume that the Trump administration had prepared extensive plans for the aftermath of the strike. It is critical for America to prevent Iraq from remaining in Tehran’s grip, as the presence of Iranian regime forces in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon pose an existential threat to Israel and U.S. strategic interests,”
As an expert in Middle East affairs and Hezbollah-related threats, Bazzi paints a clear and vivid portrayal of what Trump faces as he enters into this next decade. But he is not alone, in his responsibility or his risk, Israel is next door to this bloodthirsty regime that is plotting daily to wipe them from the face of the earth.
As the facts are examined over the fireworks of this past week in the Middle East, I must say that I have taken some time to concern myself with the players in this global game of target practice. When you factor in the radical left in Congress, clearly the target is Trump. Iran’s mantra is most definitely “death to America” which equals death to freedom worldwide.
So, by simple deduction, we have to decide…who is supporting Iran, who is hiding a true agenda like Russia, China, North Korea, etc.? Is de-escalation really Macron’s (France) goal or maybe the “players in the region” (Germany) that he speaks of so highly and loosely have a much more important “game” at stake?
In closing, I will share only one reassuring statement that I read throughout this entire week of this first new year as America’s Leader has taken on the regime of Iran. It came from it’s one allied neighbor, not a country that isolated and protected from Iran by any means. As a matter of fact, exactly the opposite, the reassurance came from a small remnant of fierce fighters that have fought for freedom for thousands of years.
“Israel stands with the United States in its just struggle for peace, security, and self-defense,”
What is Trump’s direction for this country? Please make sure you pay close attention to the bold and italic words.
Look closely at who declares him the enemy and consider what truly threatens freedom?
Look closely at his direction for America and consider what truly threatens evil?
Think about it…
God Bless America, Our Armed Forces and God Bless Israel!
1 “I’m a member of the Gang of Eight, which is typically briefed in advance of operations of this level of significance. We were not,” Rep. Chuck Schumer
2 “I was briefed about the potential operation when I was down in Florida,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) Fox News.
“I appreciate being brought into the orbit. I really appreciate President Trump letting the world know you cannot kill an American without impunity. We will stand up for our people, and that is an absolutely essential message.”
3 “From now on, Washington will deal with Tehran’s malice with kinetic action,” Sam Bazzi, a Middle East Asia analyst and founder of the (the web-based) Islamic Counterterrorism Institute and Hezbollah Watch, told The Epoch Times.
4 This could lead to the U.S. obliterating all hostile sectarian militias in Iraq and destroying Tehran’s land-bridge to the Mediterranean,” said U.S.-based Bazzi,
5 Joseph A. Kechichian, a senior fellow at the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, told The Epoch Times that Soleimani was a target for some time and his death doesn’t come as a surprise, although it has changed the dynamics of hostile relationships in the region.
6 “Elimination of such a powerful man will result in Iran not keeping quiet. Well, it might not go for an all-out war with the U.S., but asymmetric Warfare from the Iranian side cannot be ruled out,” said New Delhi-based Singh.
7 Ulrike Demmer, a German government spokeswoman, said the United States was just reacting to Iranian provocations.
